Force of Nature New England Thanks for your supportHawaiian legend says that Haleakala is where the demigod Maui lassoed the sun, slowing its passage so people had more time to grow food. It is a massive dormant shield volcano that last erupted in about 1500 and left behind these cinder cones and ancient lava flows. It is truly a sight to behold. Photographed in Maui, Hawaii in June 2022.
